Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust

Profile

From its dedicated airbase near Newquay, Cornwall’s Air Ambulance helicopter can reach any part of the county within 20 minutes, and the Isles of Scilly in 28 minutes. The dedicated helicopter flies at 140mph, and on average arrives on scene to an incident within 12 minutes of a 999 call.

To seriously ill and injured patients, the time saved by conveying them to hospital by Air Ambulance can literally be the difference between life and death.

The Cornwall Air Ambulance has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, and was the first service of its kind in the UK. The helicopter flies around 1,000 missions per year, at a cost of £1.7m. The people of Cornwall are extremely proud of their Air Ambulance, and it is only through their generosity and passion that the helicopter can keep flying and helping to save lives.
