Event Description

Let's make the last Invesco Thames Triathlon, in this format, a good one by making sure people living with a terminally ill child receive the support they need.

Connecting Henley and London, Invesco UK employees will embark on a unique 1 day adventure, travelling from Henley along the Thames by canoe, bike and on foot.

As the London office is moving from Portman Square next year this is the last time this event will run in this format.

Fitness / Medical Requirements

To enter this event you should be in good health and used to regular exercise. You are going to push yourself physically and therefore you should not have any serious medical conditions. If you have any doubt, you should take this event description and make an appointment to discuss with your GP.

When you fill in your registration form (including sections on medical and fitness) - please do ensure that you fill in the form accurately and honestly, this is a very important matter, and we want to ensure you are kept safe and well on the challenge.

Challenge Itinerary

Friday, 4th October 2024

• 06:00 - Meet Invesco office, Henley-on-Thames for event briefing

• 07:00 - Set out on canoeing stage (9km, 2 or 3 man canoes*)

• 09:15 - Arrive Hurley Lock

• 09:45 - Begin Cycle to Barnes (69km)

• 12.30 - Lunch at Coopers Hill (15mins)

• 15:30 - Arrive Barnes (hot drinks available to purchase)

• 15:45 - Depart on Foot for Portman square (12km)

• 18:15 - ETA for final walker to arrive at Portman Square

*You will receive a briefing and basic instruction in how to pilot your open canoe - it is important you remain with your leader on the water! You will be issued with a buoyancy aid and paddle as well as your canoe - which you will paddle in pairs or trios.

Stage 1

Depart Henley on Thames by canoe
Approximate distance = 9km
Approximate time to complete challenge = 2 hours.
Arrive Hurley Lock or Temple Marina

Stage 2

Depart Hurley Lock or Temple Marina by bike.
Approximate distance = 69km
Approximate time to complete challenge = 5 hours.
Arrive Barnes (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS LONGER THAN THE PREVIOUS 2016-2019 EVENTS)

Stage 3

Depart Barnes on foot
Approximate distance = 12km
Approximate time to complete challenge = 3 hours.
Arrive Portman square

Key Safety Instructions

• You will be issued with full safety guidance in your joining instructions - but you MUST follow all safety instructions.

• Unless otherwise instructed you should remain within visual contact of leaders / support vehicles

• You MUST travel in ‘buddy’ groups - to ensure that in case of emergency there is someone present to assist.

• Outdoors Clothing + Trainers

• Wicking T-Shirt

• Lycra / close fitting leggings

• Waterproof Clothing

• Day Rucksack (Small bag) - to carry water bottle +

  snacks + waterproof clothing + money / phone etc

• Personal phone in plastic bag

• Cycling Helmet (please bring if you have your own)

• Bike (Mountain Bike / Road Bike / Hybrid are fine)

• Wash bag, towel & change of clothes (separate bag to be sent onto Portman Sq)

Cost of Participation

Registration Fee = £60 per person 

Fundraising Target = £350 (the Invesco Cares Foundation will match what you raise £ for £)

Bike Hire = £30 (including Helmet); £25 (bike only) - optional from Adventure Cafe
