Doynton Hard Half Marathon 2018
21 January 2018
Emersons Green Running Club is returning to Doynton in 2018 with.... DHHM2018!!
*** DHHM2018 is full and the waiting list is now closed ***
What is DHHM?
The Doynton Hard Half Marathon is a hilariously hilly, marvellously muddy and totally tough cross-country running race of half marathon distance (give or take a field or two). The scenery is terrific and the terrain varies wildly and we at EGRC just love it!! It mostly takes place on public footpaths, bridle paths, and country lanes thick with mud and other sticky things that occur naturally in the countryside. Through rivers swollen with winter rain and over hills with hellish climbs and wicked descents. In fields, forests, farm tracks and forgotten footpaths. Add in old bridges, a quarry, a churchyard and a secret glade, topped off with some magnificent views and you’ll understand why we love our race.

A Race for runners
The Doynton Hard Half Marathon is a chip timed and generously signed & marshalled race. Friendly faces will guide you to a goodly sized free car park with plenty of space for 400 cars. Race HQ is a short walk away through the village and bag storage facilities are right on the doorstep so no inconvenient post-run excursions will be necessary to retrieve your winter woolies. Our team of hi-vis marshals will efficiently guide you around the course and the village and will usher you to collect your technical t-shirt and goody bag. They will then direct you to the cake stall for some post-run energy (so keep some loose change in your pocket to spend afterwards).
New in 2018
A few route changes in 2018 provide a safer, more challenging and slightly slicker journey across the Doynton countryside. The 'sprint finish' on Bury Lane has been replaced with a cross-country route which is more in line with the overall nature of the race and an additional climb in the first few miles of the race provides an extra challenge for those who thought the first race section was lacking in slope (nobody thought this). A few other corners have been shaved off here and there where it didn't feel quite right and the DHHM2018 is tougher, muddier and more fun.
