The Brinkworth Bash
27 September 2015
The Brinkworth MT 10k Bash - Sunday Sept. 27th 11.30 am.
plus The Brinkworth Mini Bash Fun Run - 10.30 a.m.
The Brinkworth Bash is a multi-terrain race of approx 10k held on country paths, byways, forest tracks and with some short sections on minor lanes in the quiet countryside of North Wilts. It is varied with some fast flat or downhill stretches plus some undulating parts. Some sections on bridleways could get muddy after wet weather, but it is generally firm in September. Now in its third year, club runners have enjoyed the variety of the course and less experienced runners have found it a great introduction to off-road and trail running. There will be prizes for the first 3 senior men and women M/F21-40, and age category prizes for the winners of M16, F16, VM40, VF40, VM50, VF50, VM60, VF60, VM70 and VF70. The race is open to runners aged 16 and over.
For the first time this year the event will also feature The Brinkworth Mini Bash Fun Run, a separate fun run for juniors 8-16 and adults with a distance of c.2k. The Brinkworth Mini Bash Fun Run will take place on traffic free paths and tracks, with the start and finish in the event field. All finishers will receive a medal.
The event assembly area will be on the Recreation Field at Brinkworth where toilets and full refreshments - cold drinks, tea, coffee, bacon rolls etc, and a range of locally made cakes and goodies - will be available. Small children will be able to play on the pemanent play area on the field. A baggage and shelter tent for runners will also be available and there is free parking on the assembly field. For spectators there are good views from the field of the runners as they approach the finish.
The course will be signed and marshalled throughout and there are distance markers at every kilometre, with a drinks station at 5K and the finish.
First Aid services by St John Ambulance.
The Brinkworth Heritage Society is an ARC member and the 10k race is run under ARC rules.
